Sanders Brings New Flavor to Century-Old Favorite
Sanders Adds Carrot Bumpy Cake to its Popular Line of Baked Goods
Sanders Brings New Flavor to Century-Old Favorite
Carrot cake is the latest extension in Sanders’ popular line of Bumpy™ Cakes, which were first introduced in 1913. The original dessert was named Devil’s Food Buttercream Cake, but the name was later changed to Bumpy™ Cake after early Sanders patrons continued to request “the cake with the bumps."
After several tests, Sanders crafted its moist carrot cake using fresh carrots in the spiced recipe, along with raisins and toasted walnuts. Its team of bakers also worked meticulously to develop a traditional real cream cheese frosting that would complement Sanders’ signature vanilla buttercream bumps atop the cake.
“When we decide to develop a new Bumpy™ Cake variety, a great deal of time and energy is involved in making sure it lives up to the 100-year reputation of our baked goods division,” said Brian Jefferson, Chairman & CEO of Sanders and Morley Candy Makers, Inc. “Carrot Cake and Bumpy Cake are already great on their own. Once we tasted the combination of these timeless classics, we were positive this new twist on two old favorites had to be shared with Sanders’ customers.”
Besides the new Carrot Bumpy™ Cake, Sanders also offers Chocolate Fudge, Vanilla Buttercream and Classic Caramel varieties in retail chains throughout the United States and at Sanders Chocolate & Ice Cream Shoppes in Michigan. Bumpy™ Cakes can also be ordered at www.sanderscandy.com between October and March.
