Michigan’s largest chocolate sale returns

Clinton Township, Mich., December 2, 2015 – Sanders and Morley Candy Makers announced its popular Chocolate Friday Sale is back for four days only from December 3rd – 6th giving shoppers special access to truckloads of chocolates and other items discounted at up to 90% off.

Sanders historically held its largest sale of the year, known as the Chocolate Friday Sale on the Friday immediately following Black Friday. The company opted to extend the sale throughout the weekend this year due to its increasing popularity with people living outside of Metro Detroit.

“Chocolate Friday has become a tradition for many families not only from the Detroit Area, but also for people throughout Michigan, Ohio and Canada,” said Walter Pilon - Director of Sales- Bakery & Frozen Foods. “Since many of these people make a trip out of the event we decided to make it easier for shoppers by extending the sale through Sunday.

Sanders expects to attract several thousand visitors during the 4 day event. Product offerings range from the confectioner’s famous chocolates and dessert toppings to rare merchandise and apparel. The company will also raffle off a 30-inch tall, 20-pound semi-solid milk chocolate Santa during the event.

The Sanders 4-Day Chocolate Friday sale is now held in the candy maker’s new warehouse at 22800 Hall Road in Clinton Township, Michigan. Shoppers will be given special access to this location during sale hours only from 9:00am – 7:00pm on Thursday and Friday, 9:00am – 4:00pm on Saturday and 11:00am – 4:00pm on Sunday.

Sanders Hot Fudge Cream Puff, Now Available in Your Kitchen

Clinton Township, Mich., September 10, 2015 – Sanders announced today that its widely acclaimed cream puff shells are now available in the freezer section at select Michigan Kroger stores, in Sanders Chocolate & Ice Cream Shoppes and online at www.sanderscandy.com in a newly designed resealable pouch.

The packaging update comes after Sanders’ recent launch of its new super premium ice cream cartons, giving shoppers the opportunity to enjoy a real hot fudge cream puff at home using the same ice cream, toppings and cream puffs as Sanders Shoppes.

“We wanted to design a more purposeful package for our cream puff shells that would really showcase the product inside,” said Walter Pilon, Director of Sales – Bakery & Frozen Goods at Sanders and Morley Candy Makers, Inc. “The crisp graphics and delicious recipe ideas on this pouch definitely make it stand out in any freezer section.”

Six cream puff shells were previously packed in simple clear bag with a label and twist tie in the past. While the contents are the same, the vessel has been completely updated to better fit in with the modern, yet nostalgic feel of other Sanders products. The resealable pouch is also self-standing, allowing shoppers to immediately notice the iconic Sanders Hot Fudge Cream Puff on the front, while the backside of the package provides various cream puff recipes.

Sanders Attains Globally Recognized SQF Level 3 Certification

Clinton Township, Mich., August 28, 2015 – Sanders and Morley Candy Makers announced today that it recently received Safe Quality Food (SQF) Level 3 Certification, which is a renowned certification program recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI).

SQF 2000 Level 3 certification requires the most comprehensive implementation of safety and quality management systems, and is the highest level of certification awarded by the Safe Quality Food Institute (SQFI).

Sanders was one of the first mid-sized confectionery companies to earn SQF Level 2 Certification. It now becomes one of the few U.S. confectionery manufacturers of its size to attain SQF Level 3 certification, and an Excellent audit rating.

“Most confectionery suppliers of our size find themselves unable to reach SQF Level 3 certification due to its stringent requirements,” said Andrew Bender, Sanders & Morley Candy Makers Director of Quality Assurance. “Our long standing commitment to providing customers with safe, gourmet quality products while embracing new technology and the best manufacturing practices proved instrumental in helping us reach this goal.”

SQF Level 3 is the most rigorous certification awarded by SQFI. To receive designation as a SQF Level 3 certified supplier, Sanders & Morley Candy Makers had to complete several requirements:

• Maintain the highest level, sustainable Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs);
• Further develop and follow a Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) program
• Implement a food quality risk assessment and quality control plan;
• Provide continuous training for all employees on SQF programs and requirements;
• Adhere to all regulatory and product traceability requirements;
• Undergo regular 3rd party audits to ensure compliance with every aspect of the SQF program.

Sanders Historic Bumpy™ Cake Line Adds Mini Version

Clinton Township, Mich., April 2, 2015 – Sanders announced today that a miniature version of its famous Chocolate Fudge Bumpy™ Cake is now part of the company’s rapidly growing line of baked goods.

 

Families have enjoyed Original Bumpy™ Cake for more than 100 years, but during that span of time average household sizes have shrunk significantly. After recognizing this change, and noting an increasing demand for portion control packaging, Sanders decided to develop the Mini Bumpy™ Cake.

Sanders Brings New Flavor to Century-Old Favorite

 

Clinton Township, Mich., January 22, 2015 – As Sanders begins its 102^nd year of providing unique and widely sought after baked goods, the company announced it is continuing this tradition with the launch of new Carrot Bumpy™ Cake.

 

Carrot cake is the latest extension in Sanders’ popular line of Bumpy™ Cakes, which were first introduced in 1913. The original dessert was named Devil’s Food Buttercream Cake, but the name was later changed to Bumpy™ Cake after early Sanders patrons continued to request “the cake with the bumps."

After several tests, Sanders crafted its moist carrot cake using fresh carrots in the spiced recipe, along with raisins and toasted walnuts. Its team of bakers also worked meticulously to develop a traditional real cream cheese frosting that would complement Sanders’ signature vanilla buttercream bumps atop the cake.
