Sanders Candy Shoppe Headquarters Begins Extensive Remodel

 

Clinton Township, Mich., June 21, 2017 – Sanders and Morley Candy Makers announced today that its Chocolate & Ice Cream Shoppe headquarters in Clinton Township is undergoing extensive renovations with plans to reopen an entirely reimagined store in early fall 2017. .

The new store will increase the existing store’s footprint by more than 30% and expand seating from ten people to more than 125 people. It will also include an on-site bakery along with nostalgic touches to celebrate the company’s 142-year heritage, while also using modern design to embrace a bright future.

“Sanders has always provided Metro Detroiters with unique experiences and products you can't find anywhere else,” said Brian Jefferson, Chairman and CEO of Sanders and Morley Candy Makers. “We're so excited about the new store because it’s going to be unlike any other candy shop Michigan has seen before.”

The Sanders Chocolate & Ice Cream Shoppe remodel comes after Sanders has continued to experience double-digit growth each year in the last decade. The company’s commitment to reviving the Sanders brand by using real ingredients and going back to original recipes dating as far back as 1875 has allowed Sanders to not only see growth on a local level, but it is also seeing increased distribution nationally and internationally.

During construction, the Clinton Township Shoppe will remain open in a temporary location inside the Sanders and Morley Candy Headquarters with limited hours of operation Monday thru Saturday from 9am – 6pm and Sundays from 11am – 5pm. Sanders plans to share updates about the construction project with its fans via social media and the company is already planning an extravagant grand re-opening for the fall.

Sanders Provides Chocolates for Wine Pairing

Clinton Township, Mich., February, 2017 – Sanders announced today that its new Milk and Dark Chocolate for Wine Pairing packages are available for retail sale and online at www.sanderscandy.com.

Recognizing that both wine and fine chocolates continue to increase in popularity, Sanders decided to create a package that provides consumers a simple way to enjoy their favorite indulgences together.

“Both chocolate and wine can offer rather intense flavors so it can be fun and delicious to pair the two,” said Brian Jefferson CEO of Sanders and Morley Candy Makers. “For these packages, we handpicked chocolates that would offer the best tasting experience when enjoyed with a variety of wines.”

Sanders’ new Chocolates for Wine Pairing contain 6.5 total ounces of chocolate in a convenient tray that can be easily set out for sharing. Each package includes pure chocolate squares, mini sea salt caramels and classic honeycomb chips in either milk chocolate or dark chocolate varieties.

“No one likes to go a dinner party empty handed,” Jefferson said. “We created this package to give shoppers an easy option to grab off the shelf along with a bottle of their favorite wine.”

Sanders adds Chocolate Gummi Bears to its Mini Bites Line

Clinton Township, Mich., January 3, 2017 – – Sanders announced today that it is now offering Milk Chocolate Covered Gummi Bears and Miniature Dark Chocolate Peppermint Patties for national retail sale, and these items can be purchased in Sanders Retail Shoppes or online at www.sanderscandy.com.

The Sanders research and development team considered the idea of bringing chocolate gummi bears to market for several months before launching the product.

“Before we could produce this item we had the task of searching to find the right gummi bears made with better ingredients,” said Brian Jefferson, Chairman & CEO of Sanders & Morley Candy Makers. “This is also a don’t knock it until you try it type of item so we wanted to test it first. “As soon as we started sampling the product, our shoppers fell in love and we immediately knew had to bring these chocolate gummi bears to market.”

Chocolate Covered Gummi Bears join the Sanders Mini Bites Collection after seeing success with the product line’s initial launch in early 2016. Miniature Dark Chocolate Peppermint Patties are now also part of the Mini Bites line of products.

Sanders and Old Nation Brewing Co. announce launch of Sanders Bumpy Cake Ale

Williamston, Mich., October 18, 2016 – Old Nation Brewing Company in partnership with Sanders and Morley Candy Makers, Inc. recently announced Limited Edition Sanders Bumpy Cake Ale 22-ounce bottles will be available for retail sale beginning October 27, 2016.

Chocolate Fudge Bumpy Cake Double Brown Ale is brewed with cocoa and vanilla, providing a flavor profile reminiscent of Sanders Bumpy Cake components such as devil’s food cake, chocolate fudge and vanilla buttercream.

“We are elated to display our expertise in developing handcrafted beer while paying homage to one of Michigan’s most iconic desserts,” said Travis Fritts, Brewmaster of Old Nation Brewing Company.”

Bumpy Cake Ale is the second beer Old Nation and Sanders have combined forces to create. Sanders Chocolate Stout was introduced to the market in January 2016 and can be found at fine grocers and other retail outlets throughout Michigan

Sanders closes Birmingham store, begins search for new location

Clinton Twp., MI October 7, 2016– Sanders and Morley Candy Makers announced today that its store in Birmingham is closed and the company is seeking a new location to better serve its patrons. After careful consideration the company decided it would be able to better serve its customer base by moving to a more convenient shopping location.

“We like the Birmingham area and will certainly miss those people who visit this particular store on a regular basis,” said Brian Jefferson, Chairman and CEO of Sanders and Morley Candy Makers. “However, we must continue to focus on offering our customers the best experience possible. There are certain issues with this location that prevented us from accomplishing that goal.”

With its ongoing rapid growth and plans to open a new store in the future, Sanders is looking forward to keeping as many dedicated employees as possible from its Birmingham location.

“We appreciate the efforts of those employees who continued to offer great service to customers every day until we closed this shoppe,” Jefferson said. “We definitely don’t want to see valuable people like that leave our company so we made it a priority to offer them other positions to help us keep up with increased demand.”
